It’s this time of year when we find our cozy place in front of the TV to watch our favourite holiday specials and movies. Last night, I found myself drawninto Miracle on 34th Street, the 1994 version of the story - and while it’s not the same as watching the classic 1947 film, I found myself quietly rooting for Kris Kringle.
It’s the magic of Mr. Kringle that inspires me to think that the holidays are the best place to get tips on relationship building. Imagine spreading the spirit of the holidays throughout the entire year? At its very core, the spirit of the holidays is not about giving and receiving gifts, it’s really about giving from the heart. This time of year, many of us find ourselves reaching out to friends and family, rekindling old relationships and reconnecting with old friends, typically the one time throughout the year that many of us make an extraordinary effort for others.
The one thing we can learn from the spirit of the holidays is:
* Give from the heart
* Send thank you gifts
* Send hand-written thank you notes
* Calling clients to say “I’m thinking about you”
* Make more time for others
If we continue to apply this spirit throughout the year, we’ll strengthen our relationships with thoughtfulness and sincerity.
