Tap into domestic foreign language markets using regional media outlets

You’ll be amazed to discover how many foreign language media outlets exist within a four hour driving radius of your destination. Like any other media outlet, they are always seeking compelling stories for their audiences. Target short-haul markets and do your research. Find out what kinds of stories these outlets are looking for and develop your hook.

You’ll often find a variety of print and broadcast media such as weekly newspapers, daily newspapers, AM and FM radio stations, cable TV, regional television, TV stations, magazines, and Internet based magazines within driving distance to your attraction or sightseeing business. This also represents an opportunity to capitalize on the VFR market, offering regional visitors a great opportunity to provide visiting family and friends  with exceptional tours in their own language.

If you’re targeting a foreign language media outlet that offers radio programs in Japanese, identify the key point of contact for your story and take the extra step and have your press release translated into Japanese. This will also offer your Travel Trade sales manager the opportunity to distribute your press releases to a list of targeted domestic and international tour operators who cater to the needs of Japanese travelers.

You can also post multilingual releases on your website as another promotional tool to communicate your message to a targeted group of visitors, so its an investment that offers your business a variety of distribution channels to get your message out.
