Mexican travelers seek Canadian experiences, history, culture, and interesting travel stories

The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) recently reported double-digit growth now in tenth year for Mexican travelers experiencing Canada.

The CTC reported that:

  • Mexican vacationers and business travellers just keep heading to Canada—and the numbers are growing. Last year, 230,000 Mexicans made overnight trips to Canada, a 13.8% increase over 2006, continuing a track record of 10-years-plus of strong growth
  • The number of Mexicans visiting Canada has jumped 15% a year on average since 1996, according to CTC Research. Canada is Mexico’s third-most popular “long-haul” destination, with 13% of Mexico’s international travellers.
  • According to the CTC’s published Mexico Consumer & Travel Trade Research study, Mexican visitors are connoisseurs of beautiful scenery and outdoor experiences. But what they really love is la vida tranquila: relaxed recreational fun on the doorstep of cosmopolitan cities. For most Mexicans, the ideal vacation includes historical and cultural attractions, great wining and dining, interesting travel stories and shopping, plus feeling comfortable, safe and welcome.
